Design and characteristic research of contact probe for high-precision 3D thread-measuring machine

A probe is an important part of high-precision thread-measuring machines. Probe design affects the ability machine to achieve precision. The development three-dimensional (3D) machines has mandated strict requirements for matching measuring heads. contact scanning offers advantages a relatively high measurement accuracy and stable performance. In this study, structure was designed. First, micro-force model established according 3D thread characteristics. “T”-shaped, ballpoint-pen-shaped needle selected characteristics detection hole thread. Thereafter, dimension parameters ball, bar, parallel spring plates, other components were designed enable head meet precision requirements. flexural deformation rod analyzed determine appropriate length diameter rod. Finally, effective static dynamic demonstrated through finite element simulation experimental measurements. addition, measured. return error 0.29 µm, repeatability 0.24 µm. tested using percussion method, natural frequency 180 Hz. These results help ensure improve machine.
